A Pteri is a Neopian species that seems to be something between a common bird and a pterodactyls. According to NeoPets, they can often be found nesting in Tyrannian trees.

The Golden Pteri visits sometimes as a random event. If you have a Pteri pet, it may give you neopoints.

They come in the standard, basic colors: red, yellow, green and blue. The Pteri can change their style. As of February 2007, they could be
Baby, Blue, Brown, Checkered, Christmas, Cloud, Darigan, Desert, Disco, Electric, Faerie (style), Fire, Ghost, Glowing, Green, Grey, Island, Maraquan, Orange, Pink, Pirate, Plushie, Purple, Rainbow, Red, Robot, Shadow, Snow, Speckled, Spotted, Starry, Striped, White, Yellow They look mostly like a prototypical song bird, but they have a long non-feathery tail with a heart-shaped leaf-like shape at the end.
