The shops in the marketplace are owned by the users. They have a lot of food, neggs, books, and other items. But beware, some of the prices will be very high! Users are allowed to set their own prices, so you may find high prices or bargains. It is a good idea to use the Shop Wizard to confirm that the prices are reasonable.
