Gelert

From NeoPets Guild

The Gelert is a noble, dog-like neopet. Whereas the Lupe is based more on a wolf or larger dogs, the gelert is smaller and more domesticated-seeming.

As of July 2006, the Gelert is the 6th most popular pet in Neopia with over 7 million created. About 4% of the pets are Gelerts.

There are currently around 200 items associated with the Gelert.

Neopia is inhabited by numerous and fascinating species of pets, petpets and petpetpets.

Although not as big as the Lupe, the Gelert does have some advantages over a Lupe, its thin, sleek nimble physique makes it faster and more nimble then the Lupe or any of the other species’. Its strength is made up by its higher intellect and quick speed, and is often more intelligent then the Lupe. It’s incredibly loyal and will defend its master/family/friends which makes it an excellent guard dog and perfect children’s pet. With ambidextrous tail and ears, it is capable of doing almost anything a human can do Even though they prefer to keep them as a surprise, their ears and tails ability is a secret that not many people other then breeders and lovers of the breed know about.

Gelerts are known for their loyalty and bravery.

Gelerts are known more for being body guards or security officers because its high energy levels and hyperactivity makes it always alert and its long ears can allow the Gelert to hear things from about two hundred to three hundred meters away, and the tail can sense the slightest motions in the air. Due to their high sensitivity they can often suffer from mental break downs due to nervousness and many suffer from ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) or ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) and can usually contribute to their mental breakdowns.

Gelerts very short fur and enjoy being out in the sun then in the cold shade and they can suffer from hypothermia as easy as humans can. They enjoy summer more then winter for obvious reasons, and being left out in the cold can be deadly. Because their fur is so thin, some colors of Gelert like Yellow and pail colors can suffer atrocious sun burn and they need to have some sunscreen lotion put on to prevent bad burning. Just because Gelerts are highly stricken by the cold, they love to swim and taking them to the beach would make you be a good friend of theirs for life.
