Acara - ack-ah-ra Acaras - ack-ah-rahs

Acaras (ack-ah-rah) are semi-aquatic Neopets with thick fur and two flexible horns that allow them to hear underwater. They are fast swimmers and have a knack for treasure-hunting.

Acaras are 41cm (1.35ft) on average, making them one of the smaller Neopets.[1]

Acaras are not limited edition, meaning they can be created year-round.

Site description: "At home both on land and in the water, Acaras use their characteristic “toe-bean” feet to both run and swim. Resting on its head are a pair of flexible horns that give it a regal demeanour. An Acara is happiest when it’s swimming, diving, or hunting for underwater treasure!"[2]

Previous Versions[]

Back in early Neopets, Acaras were Tigrens, a species of cute sea cat-like pets that sported fluffy, squirrel-like tails and pectoral fins.

In their spherical second design, Tigrens developed the iconic horns and ears and was renamed to Acara. However, its appearance was rather unusual, with its limbs appearing to extend from its head. This also brought out some horror in former Tigren owners, so the Acara had to be redrawn once again, this time being a full-on revamp of the original Tigren, becoming more popular than its older variants.

Later, on June 27, 2005, the Acara was redrawn a final time pre-conversion so that its unique look would give way for more dynamic posing.[3]
