The Chia (chee-uh) is an energetic Neopet that enjoys meeting new people. They are one of the few Neopets that can be turned into food (via Magical Chia Pops), and thus have the most colour options of any other Neopet. As well, they have often been hunted and eaten by Lupes in the past.
Chias are 60cm (1.97ft) on average, making them one of the medium sized Neopets.[1]
Chias are not limited edition, meaning they may be created year-round.
Site description: "Bursting with energy, Chias are always looking to make new friends! These plump Neopets love to explore and bounce up and down out of pure joy. What's even more exciting? With the touch of Magical Chia Pops, they can undergo mind-boggling transformations!"[2]

Previous Versions[]
As the very first pet to be created on the site, Chias have always been very cheerful and retained their gumdrop shape. The famous fruit and vegetable Chias came with the pet's perspective change. From 2007 onward, the detail in the Chia's bottom lip was made absent.[3]

Trivia[]
- Every time a Chia eats some chocolate, there is a slight chance of it becoming Chocolate itself!
- The Chia shares its name with the real-life Chia Pet; due to this, in 2002, the creator of Chia Pets attempted to sue Neopets for copyright infringement, but the two companies settled this on an agreement, and the Terms and Conditions explains that no name-stealing for the pet is intended.[4]
