The Gelert ("gell-ert") is an extremely loyal and brave dog Neopet that values friendship over all else. They also have strong legs and a heightened sense of smell, making them suitable pets for adventure.
Gelert are 60cm (1.97ft) on average, making them one of the medium-sized Neopets.[1]
They are not limited edition, meaning you can create one whenever you like.

Appearance[]
The Gelert is easily recognisable by its long, bendy ears and tail. Its body and legs are reminiscent of a Greyhound.

Previous Versions[]
The original Gelert, Polypup, had a chubby and angular body with nostrils instead of the nose pad seen in its modern counterpart. When the pet was renamed and redesigned on 19th July 2000, Gelerts were streamlined and given the signature whip-like ears and tails. 29th November 2001, the Gelert's new design was chosen from the Pick a Gelert competition, where The Neopets Team combined the two winning picks - 2 and 5.
