The Bori (bor-ee) is a timid Neopet originating from Terror Mountain. A long time ago, the leader of all Boris, the Keeper of Time, hid the pets underneath the Ice Caves and put them under a deep sleep to keep them safe from the Bringer of Night, who had already taken out several of them. Thousands of years later, Hannah, along with her newly-found companion Armin, finally freed the Bori colony and defeated the Bringer of Night.

Boris are 40cm (1.31ft) on average, making them one of the smaller Neopets.[1]

Boris are not limited edition, meaning they can be created year-round. However, in fall 2004, the very first Boris in Neopia were created via downloading the Neopets/Yahoo Toolbar during the Hannah and the Ice Caves Plot. These Boris came in five colours - Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, and Ice (read more about it here). Each user was allowed to create one Bori per account from this promotion.[2]

Site description: "Boris are four-legged beasts with solid armour back plates and formidable claws that can tunnel through the earth with unstoppable force! Despite their incredible abilities, Boris are rather timid, often finding solace in their comfort zones underground." [3]

Appearance[]

Bori resemble a cross between donkeys and armadillos. In fact, the name itself is a play on the word 'burro', meaning 'donkey' in Spanish.

Ice Bori[]

Ice Boris are a special variety of Boris that were originally available via downloading the Neopets/Yahoo Toolbar during the Hannah and the Ice Caves Plot. They are not available from the Lab Ray nor the Rainbow Fountain. When an Ice Bori is abandoned, it is instantly turned Blue, but retains its natural colour when transferred.[5]

Nowadays, there are three methods of obtaining an Ice Bori: winning the annual Holiday Dream Neopet Giveaway, trading for one, or using the Species Change Premium perk, which becomes active once per year.[6]
